The chief of staff of the army (COAS), General Syed Asim Munir, said that the Pakistanis were proud of their religion and their culture and will never allow Khawarij’s evil to impose his obsolete ideology on country.
The army chief made these remarks while addressing students from various universities in Pakistan.
During the meeting, Coas Asim Munnir said that the Pakistani people, in particular young people, shared a deep link with the Pakistani army.
He pointed out that attempts at anti-state elements to create a gap between the army and the public have always failed and will continue to do so.
“As long as the nation, especially young people, is with us, the Pakistani army is never defeated. We are fighting like comrades, and for us, the Pakistani identity is essential, “he said.
The head of the army also pointed out that the Pakistanis were proud of their religion, their civilization and their traditions. He wondered: “What sharia and religion do these khawarij speak?” And stressed that their obsolete ideology would never be allowed to settle in the country.
General Asim Munnir also stressed that the brave people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balutchistan is an iron wall against terrorists.
He added that the army continues to fight Khawarij daily and does not agree with their interpretation of religion. “Islam was the first religion in the world to honor women and to raise their status-be it a mother, a woman or a sister, Islam has always respected women,” he said.
Coas also asked: “Who are these khawarij to remove this honor? Who gave them this authority?
The army chief reiterated that the Pakistani army is fighting against these corrupt elements which poorly interpret Islam. He said Khawarij violates Islamic lessons and that religion has clear directives concerning these troublemakers. “Those who go to the state can expect mercy,” he concluded.
