The Federal Minister of Petroleum, Dr. Musadik Malik, said that the way the country was directed, even a small retail store cannot be managed in this way.
Addressing a ceremony held Tuesday with the 30th annual technical conference in Islamabad, Minister Malik stressed that there was a need for liberalization in government policies. He said: “The way we head the country, even a retail store cannot work in this way.”
Dr. Malik pointed out that business management is not the government’s work and which must be given to the private sector.
He recognized the failure of the privatization of PIA (Pakistan International Airlines) and mentioned that the government is once again launching the privatization process of the airline. He added that the emphasis should be on increasing dependence on national resources and to move away from outdated and bureaucratic methods.
Dr. Musadik Malik said that the government was pursuing a strategy with several parts for the development of the energy sector in the country.
The said, the fundamental pillars of the government strategy to advance the energy sector are access to energy, the supply of affordable energy and the sustainability of energy.
The Minister said that to achieve the objectives, the government is working on three fronts which include indigenization, electrification and liberalization.
He said the main objective of the government is to reduce the cost of energy for the poor and that it uses local energy resources for this purpose. He said the government is also trying to reduce dangerous environmental impacts on the environment.
Musadik Malik said that forty new coastal blocks off and thirty -one had been announced after a period of ten years, which is a major achievement.
He said Pakistan is open to business and that these blocks offer excellent investment opportunities to international investors to invest in Pakistan.
The Minister of Petroleum has explained that the government is currently working on three fronts in the energy sector.
These include working to provide energy access to the entire population, ensure affordable energy prices and improve energy sustainability.
He also mentioned the accent put by the government on the increase in local production, declaring that “will we do with the energy that the public cannot afford?”
He stressed that the simple fact of bringing one or two machines will not provide prosperity and that sustainable development requires autonomous research and scientific work. Dr. Malik stressed the importance of strengthening national confidence, saying that to progress,
Pakistan must go beyond a narrow state of mind. He warned that if the glaciers continue to melt quickly, the country’s irrigation system will be destroyed. He pointed out that any measure taken should be in consideration of the environmental impact.
