Pakistan has launched a mobile application, “Pak ID”, to facilitate the visa on the arrival of citizens from 120 eligible countries, making travel in the country easier and more practical.
The application, developed by the national database and the registration authority (NADRA), allows users to apply for commercial and tourist visas, as well as to follow the condition of their applications in real time. The visa process, which has traditionally taken days, will now be completed within 24 hours for eligible candidates.
The “PAK ID” application also offers a variety of features, including facial recognition, digitization of documents and photo download capacities. This allows candidates to complete the process without visiting physical offices, considerably reducing waiting times and increasing accessibility for international tourists and businessmen.
This initiative is a step towards the additional digitization of the Pakistan visa system, which is already open to citizens of 192 countries. With the introduction of this application, travelers can also receive notifications and follow their visa status directly from their mobile devices.
Pakistan aims to stimulate its tourism industry and make the process of obtaining a smoother visa for international visitors. The application is available for download on Android and iOS platforms, allowing easy access to the application process.
The application also simplifies the Pakistani process abroad by applying for identity cards, by continuing Nadra’s thrust to modernize administrative services through technology. With this new application, the government hopes to attract more international visitors while rationalizing services for citizens.
Currently, the application only supports visa applications before arrival (VPA). For other types of visas, candidates must visit the POVS website.
The application is available free of charge and should considerably improve tourism and commercial commitment from Pakistan by reducing bureaucratic administrative formalities and making the VISA application more user -friendly.
