FO claims the comments were intended to undermine internationally recognized facts; undermine peace and security
Pakistan on Monday warned that India “must not underestimate the unwavering determination of the people and government of Pakistan to thwart any Indian adventurism”, saying Indian Defense Minister’s comments on the Jammu and Kashmir conflict distort internationally recognized facts and reflect New Delhi’s policy of threatening regional peace and security, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (FO).
In the statement, FO said Pakistan “condemns in the strongest possible terms the highly provocative and irresponsible comments made by the Indian Defense Minister in the context of the Jammu and Kashmir conflict.”

FO said the Indian minister’s statement “not only misrepresents the facts regarding the UN and the internationally recognized conflict in Jammu and Kashmir which remains on the agenda of the UN Security Council” but also “shows the deliberate policy of the Indian government to threaten regional and international peace and security.”
The statement said the remarks were an attempt to distract from India’s own actions. FO said, “Such insinuations are an attempt to divert attention from India’s continued occupation of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), its sponsorship of terrorism in the region, as well as its domestic instability.
Rejecting what it described as India’s “inappropriate rhetoric of aggression and belligerence”, the foreign ministry warned that India “must not underestimate the unwavering determination of the people and government of Pakistan to thwart any Indian adventurism”. He adds that this determination has already been demonstrated by “the entire Pakistani nation and its valiant armed forces during Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos last year.”
FO further urged the international community to take note of India’s conduct, saying Pakistan “urges the international community, particularly the United Nations, to take note of India’s continued irregular behavior and hold it accountable for its failure to comply with relevant UN Security Council resolutions which guarantee the right to self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.”

The statement reiterated Pakistan’s position that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute remains an internationally recognized issue on the agenda of the UN Security Council and maintained that the relevant UN resolutions guarantee the right to self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He said the Indian Defense Minister’s comments sought to undermine these internationally recognized facts and reflected policies that Pakistan believes endanger regional and international peace and security.
FO’s conviction comes a day after Defense Minister Khawaja Asif rejected the same remarks by his Indian counterpart Rajnath Singh, saying they could neither alter the internationally recognized disputed status of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) nor change established legal realities.

In a statement published on X on Sunday, Asif said India’s attempts to distort internationally recognized legal facts through “intimidation and threatening rhetoric” would not change the reality on the ground. He said Pakistan “categorically rejects the irresponsible statements made by the Indian Defense Minister”, describing them as yet another attempt to distort internationally recognized legal facts through “political rhetoric and coercive posturing”.
He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the internationally recognized legal framework governing the Kashmir conflict, saying Islamabad rejected any attempt to undermine it through unilateral statements or political rhetoric.
