- The Italian cybersecurity agency has pinned the recent DDOS on Noname057
- The group is responsible for many DDOS attacks around the world
- The attacks were in retaliation for the comments made by the Italian president
Recent attacks on a certain number of Italian websites have been linked to pro-Russian hackers, the Italian cybersecurity agency confirmed.
Attacks have disrupted 20 websites related to banking services and airports, and are likely to have come from recent comments from the Italian President of Italy, Sergio Mattarella, comparing the Russian War against Ukraine with Nazi expansionism Before the Second World War.
The Italian Cybersecurity Agency said that the attacks would not have caused any major disruption and that Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who also headed the brothers of Italy, defended the president’s comments.
Russian reprisals
The attacks were carried out by a group known as non-amme057 (16), which was linked to a certain number of distributed service attacks (DDOS) around the world. The main targets of the group in Monday cyberattacks seemed to be the Intetes Sanpaolo Bank website, the Banca Monte Dei Paschi website, the Iccrea Banca website and websites for Milan Linate and Malpensa airports.
The group directed targeted cyber attacks against Taiwanese targets at the end of last year, including companies such as Formosa Plastics, Wistron and United Microelectronics. The group also claimed to have struck a number of government websites related to airports and judicial systems.
Noname057 also resolved the economy of Japan at the end of 2024 following an increase in the defense budget of Japan and increased coordination in military exercises with the United States, which Moscow presented as a important concern.
The two attacks on Taiwan and Japan seemed to have caused disturbances, although very limited. Noname057 was an important contributor to the Ddosia Botnet according to a recent article.
