Karachi: the versatile Pakistanal Salman Ali Agha highlighted the importance of converting departures into major scores and maintaining consistency after the defeat of his team against New Zealand during the opening match of the CPI Champions Trophy on Wednesday .
Speaking at a press conference, Agha admitted that Pakistan was below all the departments, but promised to come together for his next crucial match against the Rivals of Arch.
“We have to convert our 1930s and 40s into a larger scores,” said Agha. “If we want to become one of the best world teams, we have to bring consistency to our performances.”
Chasing an objective of 321, Pakistan had trouble establishing partnerships and a momentum throughout their sleeves. Agha underlined the team’s failure to capitalize on the conditions adapted to the striker.
“On this counter, more than 300 years was achievable, but we did not start the striker. We could not establish partnerships or momentum, and our power performance was also less than normal, “he said.
The absence of the opener Fakhar Zaman, who could not take his regular position at the top of the order, worked for the pursuit of Pakistan. “The absence of Fakhar at the beginning affected our power game. If there had been there, our beginning and our later position could have been different, “added Agha.
By reflecting on his own performance, Agha admitted that he could have extended his sleeves to have a greater impact. “I could have played a longer round. If I had stayed longer, the result could have been different, “he said.
Agha highlighted the importance of improving power performance, especially when pursuing large totals. “To continue 320, you have to do well in the PowerPlay. Today, we have not performed well in any department and we could not meet expectations, ”he admitted.
Despite the loss, Agha has remained focused on the next challenge: a match with high issues against India. “We are going to put this match behind us and take the ground determining for the India match,” he said.
Agha also underlined the need for continuous improvement to compete with the best world teams. “To beat the best world teams, we have to play well regularly,” he said.
