The Ohio State Ryan Day head coach entered considerable pressure last season last season. The criticism of the day was reappeared after the Buckeyes were once again defeated their first rival, the Michigan Wolverines in late November.
Day finally sent a strong message to the skeptics when he guided Ohio State to the National Championship of University Football qualifiers. During a recent appearance on the podcast “The triple option”, Day credited the Navy Seals for providing Buckeyes an additional motivation during their race for the national title.

Clint Bruce, who has already played in the NFL and is a former Navy Seal, intervened and shared a few words of wisdom about leadership with the football team.
“It was really good for me in the process of understanding what a leader means,” said Day. “The soldiers do all the fights. It is your work as a head coach, leader and captain to look along the horizon and understand what will follow. There are so many parallels between the army and Training.

Bruce is a graduate of the Naval Academy and had stays in the League with the Ravens of Baltimore and New Orleans. He is currently a motivating speaker. He delivered an “incredible speech” to the Buckeyes before their semi-final match against the Texas Longhorns in January.

“We played in Dallas, and just by chance, the fort to which he is parked was five minutes from our hotel,” said Day. “He just came and gave our team an incredible conversation. He explained how when the Seal go to a hot point in Afghanistan or to different places, they settled, take a few days to feast on the region , then they create a storm, a wreck and then leave.

Day has credited Bruce for his contribution to the culture of the program, but said that players should receive the majority of the credit for what they have built.
“The wait comes from the players. We create a leadership committee on which we vot before the spring ball, then we re-vow after Spring Ball. We write expectations on the board,” he said.
This month, Day was rewarded with a contract extension which will link it to the football program throughout the 2031 season. Day has also become the second most paid coach of university football, only dragging Kirby Smart de Georgie .
