Luis Rubiales, the former president of the Spanish Football Federation, was found guilty Thursday of having sexually assaulted a player when he kissed him without her consent after the victory of the women’s female cup in the team in 2023.
The High Court of Spain ordered Rubials to pay a fine of approximately $ 10,400 and acquitted it accusations of coercion, according to Reuters. He was also prevented from going less than 200 meters from the football player and communicating with her for a year.

Jenni Hermoso accused rubial to kiss him without his consent when Spain celebrated the team’s victory over England. Thanks to the test, Rubials maintained that the kiss was consensual.
Hermoso said earlier this month that the moment “stained one of the happiest days in my life”.
Rubiales was put under pressure from his post as president of Spanish football in 2023, resigning while being prohibited by FIFA for three years despite a first press conference where he reiterated that he would not resign. Rubiales declared in this speech that he was the victim of a “witch hunt” by “false feminists”.

Since the incident, Hermoso has said that she had struggled to escape the spotlight, especially in Mexico, where she plays for her club team between her functions for her country.
The former coach of the Spanish national team, Jorge Vilda, the former sports director of the Male Male team from Spain, Albert Luque, and the former marketing chief of the Football Federation, Ruben Rivera , are also tried for having allegedly put pressure on Hermoso to publicly defend the rubials after the incident.
They were declared not guilty, according to Reuters.
