PTI defies Nawaz, provides post-ramazan demonstrations

Rawalpindi:

Despite the warning of the president of PML-N Nawaz Sharif to limit any attempt to create an “artificial political crisis”, the PTI announced on Thursday its intention to launch a protest movement after Ramazan and reaffirmed its commitment to form a great opposition alliance.

PTI President Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Junaid Akbar Khan, expressed these points of view while speaking to the media outside of Adiala prison after being refused a meeting planned with the founding president of the Imran Khan party. He was flanked by other party leaders, including Hamid Raza, the opposition leader of the Punjab Assembly, Aamir Khan Bashar and Shandana Gulzar,

Junaid stressed that the leaders of the PTI would respond to their president’s call, regardless of government restrictions. He rejected the allegations that party leaders avoided prison visits, saying that they remained firmly in their support. He also reiterated the party’s commitment to form a great opposition alliance and to organize demonstrations after Eid.

PTI leaders have not excluded the possibility of a sit-in outside the Adiala prison if necessary.

Nawaz said on Wednesday that people would no longer allow anyone to throw a key in the work of national progress. He stressed that the progress of Pakistan will not be derailed by “uncommon groups with the principles of politics and democracy”.

Raza criticized the government, saying that political speech had deteriorated and accused the family of the chief minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, of political tactics contrary to ethics. He said that the establishment would no longer carry the burden of current leaders.

Raza also indicated that the leaders of the PTI were deliberately prevented from meeting the founder of their party, calling this a violation of constitutional rights. He said that some figures in the government were trying to mislead the public by depicting opposition leaders in a negative light.

Bashar sentenced the authorities to make them wait for hours before refusing their meeting request. He criticized the “government tactics” and accused the outgoing regime of imposing illegitimate administration. He refuted the accusations that PTI was responsible for indecent political behavior, declaring that it was the leaders of the ruling party who first engaged in political attacks contrary to ethics.

PTI leaders also underlined the case of Waqas Arslan whose woman would have undergone miscarriage due to police brutality. They demanded the responsibility of the chief minister of Punjab and IGP. They warned that the anger of the people against the government increased, which could be dangerous for the country’s democracy and stability.
