Punjab to establish the authority of tourism and heritage for 170 historic sites

The Punjab government has decided to establish the Punjab Tourism and Heritage Authority, a decision that will see the restoration of 170 historic sites across the province.

These sites, which include temples, mosques and Gurdwaras, will be transformed into international international tourist centers, Express News reported.

The official summary of authority training was submitted to the provincial office for approval.

Once established, the authority will oversee all the institutions linked to history, heritage and tourism in the region. The list of 170 sites includes 101 Gurdwaras, 53 churches and other historical landmarks.

The main provincial minister Maryam Aurangzeb, in his capacity as minister concerned, approved all the projects proposed within the framework of the new initiative.

To ensure the success of the project, the 2024 Punjab Tourism and Heritage Authority law has been promulgated and a complete tourism policy has been drawn up.

Head Minister Maryam Nawaz has also included a three -phase plan to restore historic Punjab sites in the annual development program, with calls for tenders to start in July.

The catering should start in June, with the completion planned in the second and third phases.

The preparation of PC-1 for tourism projects was educated on an urgent basis.

The plan includes the construction of Bansra Gali, a tourist village and 16 parks. The historic city of Taxila will be transformed into an international “tourist city”, and approval has also been granted for transformed the manga changa into a modern leisure station, similar to Switzerland.

In Taxila, new temples and galleries named after Siddhartha will be built to facilitate Buddhist subscribers. For the convenience of the Sikh community, 46 inactive Gurdwaras will be restored. To promote tourism, the best roads will be built, the infrastructure will be fully improved and modern facilities for international standards will be provided.

The chief minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, said that thanks to this program for the Renaissance of Tourism, Punjab will be made of the best tourist destination. “We will invite the whole world to experience Punjab, presenting the cultural richness of the country of five rivers,” she said.

She added: “Punjab has witnessed the confluence of various religions, eras and cultures. The protection of our history, our culture and our heritage is a heritage for future generations. The promotion of tourism will help economic development , and Punjab and the world image of Pakistan will shine in a new light.
