“Accidents cause more death than terrorism”

Islamabad:

A member of a constitutional bench (CB) of the Supreme Court observed on Friday that more people die in the country in road accidents that due to terrorism or illness.

“Does the government have statistics regarding people who perish in accidents?” Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail asked when hearing a petition deposited against road accidents caused by heavy and overloaded vehicles.

During the hearing, the petitioner’s lawyer, Barrister Zafarullah, argued that the real problem lies in the places where vehicles are overloaded. “Without taking measures against these loading points, the problem cannot be controlled,” he said.
