London: The United Kingdom will present its most serious sanctions against Russia on Monday, aimed at paralyzing the war efforts of Moscow in Ukraine while the conflict enters its third year, confirmed the Minister of Foreign Affairs, David Lammy.

“It’s also time to light the screws on (Vladimir) from Putin in Russia,” Lammy said in a press release.

“Tomorrow, I plan to announce the largest set of sanctions against Russia since the first days of war-eroding their military machine and reducing income fueling destruction fires in Ukraine,” he added.

The United Kingdom’s decision to strengthen the sanctions comes as US President Donald Trump has sought kyiv’s touch in recent weeks and its European donors with Russia on the future of the conflict.

“It is an essential moment in the history of Ukraine, Great Britain and all of Europe … is the time for Europe to double our support for Ukraine,” said Lammy .

London has already imposed sanctions on 1,900 people and organizations with links with the Putin government since the start of the war in January 2025.

Its sanctions target the Russian financial, aeronautical, military, military and energy sectors, including through the gels of banking assets, travel prohibitions and commercial restrictions.

Last week, EU countries agreed with a new series of sanctions which includes the ban on Russian aluminum imports which should be officially adopted on Monday.

‘Bridge’

In his statement, Lammy reiterated military support from the United Kingdom, which includes a commitment to provide 3 billion pounds sterling ($ 3.78 billion) per year to kyiv and “be ready and willing to provide British troops As part of the peacekeeping forces if necessary “.

“Outside the battlefield, we will work with the United States and European partners to achieve a lasting and fair peace, and in so doing, remaining clear that there can be nothing on Ukraine without Ukraine,” added Lammy.

On Saturday, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer held separate telephone calls with EU Ursula Von Der Leyen and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, repeating a message similar to Lammy’s.

Starmer goes to Washington to meet Trump on Thursday, hoping to act as a “bridge” between the United States and Europe to ensure territorial and security guarantees for kyiv in case of agree to end War.

The task seems more and more difficult following a public spit last week between Zelensky and Trump, who called the Ukrainian chief “dictator” and praised the “good discussions” with Russia.

Trump also accused Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron of doing nothing to end the war in an interview with Fox News on Friday.

European countries fear that if Ukraine is forced to a bad Washington case, this will let Putin win the victory and the continent at the mercy of an enharding Moscow.
