Champions Trophy – PCB asks ICC clarifications on the Indian anthem played before Australia -England

The PCB contacted the ICC for clarifications after the Indian national anthem was wrongly played at the Gaddafi stadium in Lahore.

Before the match between Australia and England, the national anthem of the United Kingdom was played without incident. However, instead of following it with the opening tunes of the Australian national anthem, a recording of the Indian national anthem began to ring before it was quickly stopped and changed.

Espncricinfo understands that the PCB is not satisfied with the error, for which it blamed the ICC. A PCB official told Espncricinfo that as it is an ICC tournament, the hymn playlist had been produced and distributed by the ICC, with the ICC in charge of playing the hymns before the games. The PCB also questioned the presence of the Indian anthem in the playlist in the first place, since India did not play any of their games in Pakistan.

It is the second time in as many days that the PCB had to ask the ICC an explanation following incidents which, according to him, have undermined Pakistan as official hosts of the Champions Trophy. During the second match of the tournament in Dubai, when India played Bangladesh, the name of Pakistan was omitted from the logo of the official show.

It was a departure of broadcasting graphics for the other tournament games so far, including the opening of the tournament between Pakistan and New Zealand in Karachi where the name of the event as well as the “ Pakistan ” were visible on the broadcast.

The ICC has put this to a technical problem, although it is an explanation that has not satisfied the PCB. The ICC has given the assurance that such a thing would not be repeated, it doesn’t matter where the games were held. This means that the flow of Sunday’s match between India and Pakistan in Dubai – the most prominent competition of the tournament – will include the name of Pakistan on the official logo on the screen.

The game between Australia and England has attracted the largest crowd of the tournament so far, and has been the most dramatic, while Australia has lowered a record of 351 to beat England by five counters with 15 balls to lose.
