- OnePlus released his new Wear Os Watch 3 in February
- It’s big and heavy, and there is no LTE option on most markets
- The company confirmed that it was trying to add a new model of size and LTE this year
Only a few days after the release of the Watch 3 OnePlus, OnePlus confirmed that his new battery beast would get an upgrade later this year to fix three of his biggest flaws.
As we have noted in our review OnePlus Watch 3, the new laptop has the best life of the operating system of one of the best Android smart watches on the market. It comes with the classic OnePlus design language, new health features and all Google third -party applications that you expect from a Wear OS smartwatch. However, it is also quite large and heavy, and there is no LTE option for cellular connectivity outside China.
Now the company has confirmed that these three problems are on its radar and say they are planned to introduce a new size and a cellular version later this year.
OnePlus Watch 3’s 2025 Upgrade
In the comments made in Warable, the R&D chief of OnePlus Health Lab confirmed that we could see the new models this year.
“It is true that the watch remains heavy for a small wrist and that it generally affects women, but we are going to solve this year,” said Dr. Leo Zhang. “We appreciate the voice of our client and we work there.”
“LTE is also something requested by many users,” he added, confirming that there is no technical barrier to add functionality. “On the Chinese domestic market, we have an LTE version,” he said. “In a market abroad, we need to work with carriers – and it’s a big obstacle. We have to work with operators so that users can put an ESIM and have a data plan.”
LTE connectivity allows a smartwatch to connect to an operator network and use data such as a smartphone. It allows features such as navigation, calls and SMS and multimedia streaming even without a present smartphone, a practical feature for runners and other people who wish to leave their phone at home with an autonomous intelligent watch.
Zhang said that “as long as we work gently with the carriers”, the functionality should also be on the upgrade list for the OnePlus 3 watch.
