The American Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessent, appointed the Digital Regulatory Advisor to Galaxy, Tyler Williams, to advise digital assets and the blockchain technological policy.
Williams is currently head of regulatory and legislative affairs and regulatory lawyer for Galaxy Digital and also gives part -time lectures to the George Washington University Law School.
He has already worked with the government, more recently as deputy deputy secretary to the Treasury Department under Steven Mnuchin from 2018 to 2020 where he advised digital assets. He also worked under senator Thom Tillis in the American Senate and under members of the Robert Hurt and John Boehner Congress in the House of Representatives.
President Donald Trump has signed an executive decree earlier this month by loading the Treasury and Trade services to create a sovereign wealth fund that he expects to be created before the end of this year.
Although Bitcoin (BTC) has not been mentioned with regard to the fund, it could potentially be a vehicle by which the government could buy and maintain the crypto.
Trump previously proposed that the federal government has digital currencies as part of its national reserve strategy. However, in an executive decree, he only instructed his cryptography advisers to assess the creation of a reserve of digital assets.
