A group of surfers, rescuers and other people concerned recently met around the American surfer Pro Makai McNamara after being struck. McNamara was wiped out by a massive wave in Banzai Pipeline in Hawaii, which is widely considered as one of the most dangerous surf breaks in the world.
According to Island News, McNamara was a frequent visitor to Banzai pipeline and was struck by the Great Wave last Sunday. The aforementioned responder group helped McNamara achieve security on shore.

Eli Olson, who also professionally surfes and is described as a friend of McNamara, said that the event was a “bizarre accident”.
“It was just a bad wave, a kind of bizarre accident, and he was the first in the reef,” Olson told Island News. He also described McNamara as “one of the best [surfers] over there. “”

Olson estimated that McNamara was underwater for two minutes before anyone could join him. He also noted that the speakers had attempted “RCR compressions” during the rescue.
“He was underwater for almost two minutes before arriving at it. First thing, I just wanted to like to keep his head underwater so that he did not take more water,” said Olson. “I gave him a couple [of] breaths. Try to give him a couple [of] Compressions. “”
He added: “We are struck by the waves here. We are somehow recycled in the waves, then we did it in life first, did another cycle of RCR compressions, and he started to cough the water.”

McNamara was finally able to regain consciousness when he was “brought back to life on the sand,” reported. McNamara was then transported to a local hospital where the medical staff placed him in the induced coma for three days.
McNamara’s father Liam has provided an update on the status of his son 24 hours after the heartbreaking incident.
“It’s been 24 hours since the incident, and he’s on his recovery,,” he said in a video published on Instagram. “He feels your energy. He feels your love. He feels your positive vibrations, and we appreciate each of you for your support.”

“I thank the rescuers and all those who helped, so many people. Thank you very much for helping to save my son,” continued Liam.
“The next two days, he will be in the hospital here, and we just need continuous prayers and positive energy,” he added. “Makai is a strong young man, and he will pass through it.”
Meanwhile, Olson described the rescue as a “team effort” and expressed his hope that McNamara will make a “complete recovery”.
“All that matters is that Makai recovers completely and we can laugh and share the waves with him soon,” noted Olson via Instagram stories.
