Islamabad:
Friday, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly demanded an immediate briefing of the Sindh police chief concerning the murder of Mustafa Amir, while shocking revelations faced the bonds of the case with drug trafficking, cryptocurrency and the dark web.
President of the panel, Raja Khurram Nawaz insisted that a briefing on the case is priority.
However, the additional interior secretary informed the panel that the Inspector General (IG) Sindh had not appeared due to a delay in receipt of the committee’s opinion.
He asked that the briefing be planned for the next meeting. However, the MNA Abdul Qadir Patel has strongly criticized the absence of the IG, saying: “This is an extremely serious case – at the very least, the IG Sindh should have participated”.
The member of the committee, Agha Rafiullah, also revealed that a DSP had been shot twice as part of the case, while lifting concerns about the investigation. “The accused has a parent in the investigation team.” He insisted that a case of this sensitivity would have already undergone serious and impartial surveys.
Nabeel Gabol added that federal agencies, including ANF and FIA, should have already taken measures.
Abdul Qadir Patel revealed that the authorities had recovered a call center and 62 laptops, as well as evidence related to cryptocurrency. He added that fraudulent bank accounts had been created and alleged that drugs had been transported from Islamabad to Karachi using email services.
The case, he added, also involved transactions on the Dark web and purchases of possible illegal weapons.
If this had occurred in another country, all agencies have been mobilized now, “said Patel, criticizing the inaction of the FIA and other federal authorities.
Meanwhile, the additional director general of the cybercrime wing Fia Waqaruddin Syed assured the panel that the Sindh police were currently dealing with the case, and the FIA would investigate when she was referred to them.
Patel criticized the approach by questioning: “Are you waiting for the case to come?
Subsequently, the NA panel summoned Ig Sindh to appear during the next session for a detailed briefing on the Mustafa Amir affair.
In addition, the Ministry of the Interior was responsible for initiating an investigation through the FIA and the ANF to discover the full extent of the case and its potential links with organized crime.
Earlier, the session began with the members of the committee opposing the absence of the Minister of the Interior and the Interior.
Expressing his dissatisfaction, the MNA Nabeel Gabol said: “At the very least, the interior of the secretary should have been present”.
