Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has promised to completely eradicate terrorism from Pakistan, declaring that the nation “will bury this curse forever” and prevent its resurgence.
In a speech during an event in Islamabad on Saturday, he said that the government would take decisive measures to eliminate terrorism from the country.
Referring to the tragic suicide bombardment to Akora Khattak, who led to the martyrdom of Maulana Hamidul Haq and several other Pakistanis, Prime Minister Sharif condemned the attack, calling it a deeply painful incident.
He stressed that Jamia, where Islamic and modern education is provided, has produced real Pakistanis. While expressing the sorrow of the nation about the attack, he urged the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to stop the authors quickly and to ensure that they are confronted with justice.
The Prime Minister has also thought about Pakistan’s progress in the fight against terrorism, declaring that in 2018, the country had largely eradicated terrorism, with more than 80,000 Pakistanis having put their life for peace and recognized the sacrifices carried out by the armed forces, the police and the law enforcement agencies.
However, he noted that terrorism had resurfaced, although he chose not to immerse himself in the causes at this time. He reiterated that the armed forces would play a central role in the eradication of this threat, ensuring that it is completely and permanent.
On the financial front, Prime Minister Sharif underlined the collection of income during billions of rupees due to the state of Pakistan, as he mentioned in 2022 and 2023, when the dollar skyrocketed, the banks had made profits and the government, and the government had imposed a tax on the flaw. Despite this, the banks had obtained a stay prescription.
However, he welcomed the efforts of the governor of the State Bank, who, after the High Court of the Sindh, lifted the suspension order, managed to withdraw 23 billion banks from the banks and to deposit it to the national treasury.
Announcement of the 20 billion Ramadan rupe
In his speech, Prime Minister Sharif also announced a substantial package of RS20 billion Ramadan for the poor, aimed at relieving the sacred month.
He explained that this year, the government had allocated 20 billion rupees, benefiting 4 million families across Pakistan. The package marks an increase of almost 200% compared to the allowance of 7 billion rupees from last year.
The Prime Minister stressed that the Ramadan package would be implemented throughout the country, ensuring that the deserving families of Karachi in Gilgit, including those of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, are included.
He congratulated the efforts of institutions such as the State Bank, Nadra and technological organizations to ensure the transparency and efficiency of the distribution process. He also expressed his gratitude to all the institutions involved in the delivery of Ramadan’s relief to those who need it.
Prime Minister Sharif also said that the government was working to improve and privatize the public service store system, which had previously been prey to corruption. This year, the Ramadan package beneficiaries would no longer have to wait in long lines. Instead, they would receive relief in a worthy way through digital wallets.
He assured that the distribution of the Ramadan package would be closely monitored to ensure transparency and equity.
