Karachi: The International Association of the Football Federation (FIFA) raised the suspension of the Pakistan Football Federation after the PFF congress approved constitutional amendments mandated by the director of football and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), confirmed on Sunday.

“The FIFA Council office decided on March 2, 2025 to raise the suspension which was imposed on the PFF on February 6, 2025,” the football organization said in a statement.

He added that the decision was taken after the PFF congress unanimously approved the version of the PFF Constitution validated by FIFA and AFC, thus fulfilling the requirement established by the Bureau in its decision of February 6.

Shahid Khokhar, member of the PFF standardization committee, confirmed to PK Press Club News This suspension of Pakistan was lifted, which makes the country eligible to use international football activities.

“The suspension was lifted following the success of the extraordinary Congress of the PFF on February 27,” said Khokhar. “We thank FIFA and AFC for their continuous support for Pakistani football and we congratulate our sincere congratulations to the Pakistani football community.”

The raised suspension, all PFF membership rights, as defined in FIFA laws, have been restored. This again allows PFF representatives and club teams to participate in international competitions.

FIFA had suspended last month after the members of the PFF congress initially refused to accept the constitutional amendments, which were deemed necessary to ensure a transparent electoral process. However, during a follow -up meeting on February 27, the congress approved the changes.

The lifting of the suspension opens the way to Pakistan’s participation in the AFC Asian Cup qualifications. The PFF had previously announced that it was unable to participate due to the suspension. Now, with the ban on, the PFF will have to make quick arrangements for its next match against Syria, which should take place later this month.
