Badfinger musician Joey Molland breathes his last at 77

Joey Molland, the last surviving member of Badfinger, died at the age of 77.

Sunday, the official page of Badfinger announced a heartbreaking news of Molland’s death.

“Well, the day we never wanted to see happened,” the statement started. “Joey (Joseph Charles) Molland died last night, surrounded by Mary, his two sons and other family members at 11:39 p.m. CST.”

“When I receive the information concerning the arrangements, I will publish them here,” the press release continued. “I was in bed when it happened … and I woke up with this news, so I’m sorry for the delay. I have already seen some messages in my personal flow, and half a dozen PM were sent this morning. (Thank you for the sympathies.)”

“Needless to say, even if I knew that the situation was bad, it was always a shock for the system. I am sure that if you read this for the first time, it’s a shock for yours too. Long live Badfinger. Thank you, Joey … for keeping the music of the group alive for so long and being a friend for all of us,” concluded the statement.

The cause of Molland’s death has not yet been revealed.

The sad news came after Molland’s girlfriend Mary shared on social networks that the musician was in USI in December and created a GoFundme page in January to facilitate his medical expenses.

The legendary guitarist of the 70s joined Badfinger, Formerly known as Iveys, in 1969 and was the singer-songwriter, singer and guitarist.

The other members of the group were Pete Ham, who died by Suicide in 1975, and Tom Evans, who committed suicide eight years ago.

He was also friends close to Beatles Members played guitar in a catalog of songs by John Lennon.
