Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif intervened to solve the current problems of gas supply disturbances during Sehri and Iftar during the month of Ramadan, directing an immediate action to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted gas flow during critical hours.
During an emergency meeting at the end of the evening, the Prime Minister summoned discussions with the general directors and the senior management of the SSGC and the SNGPL to solve the problems of pressure and disruption of low service in service, Express News reported.
Following the meeting, SUTHERN GAS COMPANY announced a 10% increase in gas pressure to ensure better delivery during peak hours.
In addition, the gas supply of the areas located at the end of the distribution networks will start 30 to 45 minutes before Sehri and Iftar, helping to improve pressure in these regions.
To monitor the situation more, Su Southern announced the creation of control rooms at head office and regional offices.
These rooms will supervise the daily gas supply situation, ensuring that complaints related to low pressure are quickly processed and resolved in an emergency.
Meanwhile, SNGPL also undertook to respect the directives of the Prime Minister, assuring citizens that the gas supply during the hours of Sehri and Iftar would be maintained without fault.
They urged the public to report any problem via the 1199 assistance line for immediate resolution.
Residents of various regions of Karachi were faced with significant difficulties due to the disruption of gas supply during the time of Iftar time.
According to reports, areas such as the Liaquatabad B region, Liaquatabad 4, the zone of the federal capital and northern Nazimabad have been without gas supply, causing drawbacks to residents. In addition, certain parts of Nazimabad, PIB colony and various blocks of Gulshan-E-IQBAL also experience interruptions in gas services.
However, a spokesperson from Suit Southern Gas Company (SSGC) denied allegations concerning gas breakdowns. The spokesperson said that gas supply operated normally, 95% of gas areas. He recognized that there were complaints of the remaining 5% of the areas.
Residents continue to express his frustration about the time of these disturbances, especially during the crucial Iftar period. Before Ramadan, SSGC had announced the gas load shedding calendar for the sacred month while guaranteeing an uninterrupted diet during the hours of Sehr and Iftar.
According to the schedule, gas supply remained uninterrupted from 3.30 p.m. to 10 p.m. and from 3:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. to meet the needs of Sehr and Iftar. However, consumers experienced a gas suspension from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and again from 10:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.
