Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has announced its intention to invest at least $ 100 billion in the American industry in the manufacture of semiconductors over the next four years.
This decision is expected to finance three new manufacturing factories, two advanced packaging installations and an R&D center, although the details of the planned locations have not yet been confirmed.
The company boasted that the project has become the “largest foreign direct foreign investment in the history of the United States” and is added to its existing investment of $ 65 billion in Phoenix, Arizona.
TSMC US Jobs
In addition to advancing the semiconductor market, just like any other similar announcement, TSMC underlined the positive impacts of its investment on the workforce. The company estimates the creation of 40,000 construction jobs over the next four years as well as “tens of thousands of high -tech high technology jobs” both in manufacturing and R&D.
Its Arizona factory already employs more than 3,000 workers and supports American efforts to domesticate its supply chain.
The TSMC also suggested that an additional $ 200 billion in indirect economic production could be reached in the United States following the announcement.
