Dar to reaffirm the support of Pak to the Palestinians

Islamabad:

The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Cooperation Organization (OCI) will meet in Djeddah this week for an extraordinary session to discuss the current situation in the Middle East and prepare a joint response after US President Donald Trump suggested moving the Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Senator Ishaq Dar, will go to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to participate in the extraordinary session of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM), which should take place on March 7, Jeddah.

The high -level meeting will bring together foreign ministers and senior officials from the member countries of the OIC to discuss joint actions in response to the deterioration of conditions in Palestine due to the ongoing Israeli aggression, violations of Palestinian rights and call for their displacement.

“As a fervent supporter of the Palestinian cause, Pakistan has always highlighted this problem on various international platforms”, we read in a statement published here by the Foreign Office.

He declared during the next session of the OIC-CFM, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs would reaffirm the unshakable support of Pakistan to the Palestinian cause and would focus on his position in principle.

He would plead for the total withdrawal of Israel from all the occupied territories, including Jerusalem, denounce the unacceptable proposal to move the Palestinians more and call for the restoration of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, such as their right to return to their Al-Sharif country as capital.

In addition, on the sidelines of the OIC-CFM, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs should hold bilateral meetings with counterparts from the IOC significant member states.

Before the extraordinary meeting of the OIC, the Arab leaders gathered in Cairo on Tuesday to discuss the Palestinian issue and the bizarre proposal from US President Donald Trump in Gaza.

Arab leaders had to ratify an Egyptian proposal which would involve spending $ 53 billion to rebuild Gaza without, as Trump suggested, moving away from the Palestinians from the band, according to a preliminary project of the proposal.

The proposal also calls to put a committee of technocrats and other figures not affiliated with Hamas in charge of the territory for an initial period of six months, according to the New York Times, which saw the draft Egyptian proposal.

The Arabic Summit was called in response to Mr. Trump’s proposal last month to expel the Palestinians from Gaza, send them to Egypt and Jordan and transform the territory into a tourist center – an idea that a large part of the world has rejected as being ethnic.

Egypt, Jordan and other Arab allies in the United States have rejected the plan, claiming that it would destroy any hope remaining from a Palestinian state and would destabilize the whole region.

Trump seemed to soften his position recently, saying that he “did not forced” his idea of Gaza on anyone. But the Arab world remains deeply worried. The uncertainty surrounding the ceasefire in Gaza, which took a blood break for six weeks and saw Israel and Hamas exchanging Palestinian prisoners for Israeli hostages.
