- The Vado SL 2 has just launched
- He is the latest consumer electric bike in Specialized
- It has a 520W battery up to five hours of journey
Specialized has now unveiled the brand new alloy version of its Vado SL 2 electric bike, which, according to the company, offers an unprecedented combination of power, speed and beach in its weight category.
We recently reviewed the exceptional Vado SL 2 carbon 2 and loved its excellent power, its silent driving and its gentle manipulation. However, it costs USD 6,500, £ 5,500 in the United Kingdom / $ 9,900 aus, an amount attractive even for the best electric bikes on the market.
Fortunately, Specialized now offers an alloy version of Vado SL 2 at a slightly more pleasant price with a taste of £ £ 3,500 £ 300, with us and aus pricing to confirm. This will bring you respectively the new Vado SL 2 4.0 or 5.0 alloy. So what do you get in the 4.0 and 5.0 models compared to the more expensive carbon option?
Vado SL 2 alloy from Specialized: on paper
The new 5.0 and 4.0 models are an ultra-light alloy version of carbon 6.0 aforementioned. They are very similar in SPEC (hence the proximity of the price). Both are available in configurations equipped or step by step. They are both fed by the SL 1.2 engine from Specialized, which generates 50 Nm of power and is good for 25 km / h. The two have an integrated 520Wh battery for up to five hours of travel time (warnings from the range of electronic bikes), and both have the H3 brain with handlebar remote control.
The 4.0 and 5.0 include designs of aluminum and fork frame, as well as the future Shock 3.1 suspension. They are also delivered with the same tires and wheels, as well as the same side and rear rack configurations to transport luggage.
The 5.0 offers Tektro TKD-148 brakes, as opposed to the Tektro HD-R285 brakes on 4.0. The 4.0 has only 10 speed gears against 11 speeds on 5.0, and the lights of 5.0 are also slightly better.
The large round on the more expensive carbon version is obviously the frame of carbon. The engine is not good either, and the suspension and the brakes are also improved on the carbon model that we have already examined.
The 4.0 and 5.0 do not have a removable battery, as is the carbon model, which can be an output for some. Otherwise, it looks like the best option of Specialized for those who do not want to get rid of its extremely expensive carbon model.
