The hub of the B & O Beogogram 4000 series is a real design classic, a platinum from the 70s that found a place not only in demanding music fans, but also in art museums. And now, it is back in a strictly limited edition that you probably cannot afford, but will not be able to detach your eyes.
The Beogram 4000C Saint Laurent Rive Rive edition, to give it its full name, was created under the vigilant eye of the creative director of Saint Laurent, Anthony Vaccarello.
This is not the first time that Vaccarello has reinvented a classic: for example last year, he redesigned the electric guitar Fender Stratocaster and the accompanying amplifier. But clearly, he warmed up because this B & O platinum is incredibly beautiful.
This is not the first time that the Beogram 4000c has been rebuilding: B&O restored and changed 95 of them in 2020 and offered them for $ 11,000 / £ 9,000 / approximately $ 17,000 in. But this new edition is even more selected and a little more expensive too.
The Beogram 4000c Saint Laurent Rive Edition: Exquisite and inevitably costly
As our colleagues from Wallpaper explain, each platinum is an original fully restored and numbered with silver -plated metal and a ziricot wood base. Each original platform is dismantled by B&O in Denmark, and each part is then cleaned – and by “each” that we mean “each”, up to the smallest screws – and if necessary, replaced.
The hand -made wooden frame is new, as is the new finishes on zen controls next to the tray, and each plate obtains a new cartridge and a new preamp.
The wooden case is made from solid ziricot, which is a dark hardwood; He has “a particularly distinctive grain, creating an object of fascination even when the hub is not used,” explains Wallpaper.
I think it looks absolutely beautiful. We are used to seeing a lot of turntables of retro style or retro inspiration, but it is something to see a real original return and show everyone how it is.
