The chief minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, launched the “scheme of free solar panels of the chief minister of Punjab” to relieve consumers of electricity essential in the province.
Eligible households consuming up to 200 electricity units per month can now request a free installation of solar panels. Here is a detailed guide on how you can register for this scheme, either via the web portal or via SMS.
1. Apply via the web portal:
To request the scheme of free solar panels online, follow these steps:
- Step 1: Open your browser and visit the official recording portal to
- Step 2: Click the Registry button to access the registration page.
- Step 3: Fill out the registration form with the following details:
- First and last name
- E-mail address
- Laptop
- CNIC (computerized national identity card)
- Password (create a secure password)
- Confirm the password
- CAPTCHA code (to verify that you are human)
Once you have entered all the information, click Sign up to continue.
2. Check by e-mail:
- After your registration, you will receive a confirmation email.
- Open the email and click on the Check the E-mail address to authenticate your account.
3. Connect:
- Once your email is checked, you will be redirected to the connection page.
- Enter your saved email and password, then click on the connection to access your account.
4. Application page:
- After logging in, the system will invite you to enter your invoice reference number.
- Carefully enter your electricity invoice reference number and click check to continue.
5. Check the application details:
- The system will display the details related to your invoice reference number. Make sure the information is correct.
- If there is an error in your reference number, click Reset the application and reintegrate the right one.
6. Submit the request:
- Once the details are checked, carefully examine the information displayed on the screen.
- Check the box to accept the conditions of the company, then click Submit to finalize your request.
7. Follow the statement of the application:
- After submission, candidates can follow the state of their application via the portal. Keep an eye on updates to the treatment of your solar panel installation.

Alternatively, you can apply via SMS:
- Step 1: Send an SMS to 8800 with the following format:

Eligibility criteria:
The program is available for consumers using up to 200 electricity units per month. The verification will be carried out using the reference number on the monthly consumer electricity invoice, as well as the CNIC number.

Important remarks:
- Solar systems will only be installed after the physical verification of your contact details.
- Solar systems will be linked to your CNIC to avoid flight and improper use.
- The first phase of the diet will see the installation of more than 94,000 solar panels, the process starting at the end of March and conclusive by July.
Earlier, the Punjab government decided to transition the 43 prisons from the province to solar energy, a decision that should reduce electricity and gas costs up to 60%.
The plan, which aims to resolve the increase in public services costs, was presented by the Punjab attachment service and awaits the final approval of chief Maryam Nawaz, Express News reported.
An initial survey by the National Radio and Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC) estimated that the annual energy costs of the 43 Punjab prisons have reached a 4.5 billion rupee internship.
