Daredevil: born againThe first two episodes have now been released on Disney + – Read my Daredevil: born again Revise to see what I thought about it – and the expected Marvel TV show that was already waiting for many online discussions.
The chief among these fans conversations is that emotionally devastating moment in his first episode (no spoilers for anyone who found himself here but who has not yet looked at him). Discussion that this incident is, however, I was much more surprised by an obvious reference to Spider-Man in the second episode of the series, and it is the one that made me even more desperate for a team on the big screen between Peter Parker and Matt Murdock.

The reference is made by Wilson Fisk as he addressed New York after his electoral victory for the mayor. Explaining via a live flow that is shown on the giant screens of Times Square and transferred to houses through the city, Fisk calls for a new era for the largest city in the world “, but this is the next part of his speech which contains the Easter egg style remark concerning the web slinger. “We do not need a vigilante who wears firearms that carries a skull mask on his chest,” said Fisk before adding: “or a man who dresses in a spider outfit, or a guy who carries devil horns to save us.”
The “Skull Mask” and “Devil Horns” remarks, who refer to Frank Castle / The Punisher and Murdock’s Vigilante alias, respectively, are to be expected. After all, Fisk fought against both criteria during his time as an ankle DaredevilRun of three seasons on Netflix.
His quotes on “a man who dresses in a spider outfit”, however, is the first time that Fisk recognizes Spider-Man in the Marvel cinematographic universe (MCU). Okay, until Again bornOuting, Fisk had only appeared in two MCU projects – Hawkeye And Echo – So he had not had the chance to mention the Wallcrawler. Now that he has, however, Marvel has a golden opportunity to bring together Spidey and Daredevil to potentially fight Fisk.
Will Spider-Man appear in Daredevil: born again?
Unfortunately, the chances that Peter Parker and Matt Murdock join Again born are thin to nothing. It is despite Marvel fans thinking that they would also do it, some suggest that Again bornThe official trailer contained its own Spider-Man Easter egg.
Why does Spider-Man not appear in this Marvel Phase 5 project, then? In short, he is not allowed to present himself in live productions on Disney +, alias one of the best streaming services in the world.
Speaking on an edition of February 2025 of the Podcast Phase Zero, the head of television, streaming and animation of Marvel, Brad Winderbaum, explained why Spidey is not allowed to appear in the projects at the small screen of the studio. Essentially, because Sony has the rights to live long action on the IP Spider-Man, the Webslinger is prohibited to make appear in MCU television programs.
However, he is authorized to appear in animated projects, which is why he made a brief cameo X-Men 97 Season 1 and played in a completely separate animated series – Your Spider-Man neighborhood friend – Earlier this year. Interestingly, Daredevil appeared in the latter and was expressed by Charlie Cox, who played the character in a live capacity for 2015.
So what are the chances of the fearless man Spider-Man 4 instead? Vincent d’Onofrio, who plays Fisk, recently denied (via the press of Meltdown) that he and Cox are not part of the distribution of this film by Marvel Phase 6. This may be the case, but let’s not forget that Andrew Garfield has always denied that he would appear in Spider-Man: No time at homeAnd look at what happened there.
In short, do not expect Spidey to appear in the first autonomous adventure of Daredevil. If he does it, you can be damn sure that I will update my Daredevil: born again season 1 hub, plus my Again born Distribution and character guide, to reflect this pleasant moment.
