PTI senator, Faisal Javed, was arrested on Wednesday at Peshawar airport while trying to board a flight to Saudi Arabia for his pilgrimage in Omra, despite the authorization of the High Court of Lahore (LHC).
According to information, Faisal Javed was to go to Saudi Arabia for OMRA when airport immigration officials prevented him from getting on his flight. It was reserved for a Saudi destination flight when the authorities had removed it from the plane.
In a statement to the media, Javed revealed that the High Court of Lahore had granted him permission to play the OMRA and had ordered that his name be withdrawn from the Pakistan (PNIL) exit list.
He said that despite the presentation of the court order at the airport, immigration officials, in particular the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), refused to allow him to travel, citing a violation of the court’s decision.
“I had a flight scheduled for 3:00 p.m. today, but I was not allowed to travel,” said Faisal Javed. “I showed them the order of the court, but they ignored it. FIA officials lacked the judicial instructions.”
The head of the PTI stressed that the Court had explicitly directed the abolition of its name from the exit list, but the government had not complied, preventing it from traveling abroad for its religious duties.
Javed accused the government of not implementing the court’s decision and violating its right to travel for OMRA despite judicial approval.
