- The new iPad Air M3 offers good value at $ 599 / £ 599 / $ 999 at
- But it becomes less attractive when you start adding upgrades
- If you do this, the purchase of an iPad Pro could make more sense
Apple has just launched a new iPad Air with an M3 chip, updating the mid -range tablet while keeping its starting price of $ 599 / £ 599 / $ 999 at the same as the M2 edition – a nice little boost for Apple fans. However, I took a look at the different configuration options (see the full list below), and quite quickly you encounter a problem: the iPad Pro.
Here is an example. If it was me and my heart had the purchase of an iPad Air, I would likely like to get the 13 -inch model on the 11 -inch version. Not only does it offer you a larger screen – which is fantastic to watch movies and edit videos – but it is actually brighter than the 11 -inch iPad Air. While this device rises up to 500 brightness, the 13 -inch iPad Air is maximum at 600 nits.
But choose this upgrade Pushes the price of the iPad Air up to $ 799 / £ 799 / $ 1,349 in. Add a storage upgrade from the base from 128 GB to 256 GB and you are considering a total of $ 899. It is expensive enough for a mid -range tablet, and it means that the iPad Air loses part of its radiance.

A pricing problem
If you spend as much money, it could in fact argue the worth considering the 11 -inch iPad Pro, which starts at only $ 100 ($ 999 / £ 999 / $ 1,699 at).
This gives you an excellent tandem screen, face ID, promotion refreshment rate, up to 1,600 nicks of pic brightness and the M4 chip, among other advantages. It’s a lot of additional punch for not much more money. The main drawback is that you get an 11 -inch smaller screen, because the 13 -inch iPad Pro starts at the price requested more expensive of $ 1,299 / £ 1,299 / $ 2 199.
But if you can live with the 11 -inch screen (which is always a fantastic screen thanks to this OLED tandem), you get one of the best tablets that money can buy for a little more than less advanced iPad air. And, ironically, the iPad Pro is even thinner than the iPad Air, despite the name of the latter involving that it should be the lightest option.
It is a difficult position to participate. Make no mistake, the basic level $ 599 / £ 599 $ 999 iPad Air is an excellent value for money, and you get a lot of tablet for your money thanks to its featherweight design and the M3 chip. But once you start adding upgrades, it’s much less attractive compared to the iPad Pro.
Decide which device suits you to personal preferences, but if I looked at the iPad Air and that I added some upgrades, I would find myself inexorably towards the iPad Pro.
Maybe it’s people looking for apples while being intelligent with its prices, or maybe it is a supervision that undercuits the iPad Air. In any case, the new iPad Air is the most logical when you add any upgrade.
