Washington Capitals Star Alex Ovechkin is in the continuation of the history of hockey, and the NHL veteran star was committed on Wednesday which will have an impact beyond sport.
Capitals announced on Wednesday a partnership with Ovechkin, hockey fights cancer and the V Foundation to collect funds for research on pediatric cancer which is parallel to its pursuit of the Career score record in NHL.

In a declaration provided by the team, Ovechkin promised to use his platform to make a difference.

“Throughout my NHL career, I have met many brave children fighting for cancer, and I think it is important to do what I can to save more lives from this horrible disease,” said Ovechkin. “I want to thank the V Foundation for all their hard work, and I can’t wait to use my platform and do everything I can to help advance the mission of the V Foundation and Hockey against cancer.”
Ovechkin is 11 goals from the brand 894 goals from Wayne Gretzky. Starting with Wednesday’s match against the New York Rangers, Ovechkin will make an equal donation to his total career objective each time he marks for the rest of his career.
And its gifts will be equaled by Monumental Sports & Entertainment, which has the CAP.

“The Alex Ovechkin’s summit in size on ice was a thrill for all hockey fans, and its commitment to finance innovative research on pediatric cancer will have a vital impact for years to come,” said Shane Jacobson, CEO of the V Foundation for Cancer Research.
“We are delighted to have Alex in our team. We are impatient to celebrate his achievements and celebrate the progress of cancer research together.”

Ovechkin, 39, has 31 goals this season after being sidelined for 16 games after breaking the leg in November.
