- You can now start to record manually from Philips Hue security cameras
- It is also easier to manage the lighting configurations of the Philips shades with several bridges
- Bluetooth users can modify the icon of each light for easier identification
The Philips Hue application has just received a large upgrade that facilitates the management of your lights and gives you more control over video recording if your home configuration includes one of the company’s security cameras. The 5.37.1 version app is available for download now for iOS and Android devices.
The biggest change of the application is the possibility of starting to manually record video clips. Measure (the company behind the Philips Hue brand) manufactures some of the best home safety cameras with regard to value and convenience, but so far, their registration feature has been quite limited.
Previously, you can define your camera to send you a notification when it detects the movement and save a 60 -second video clip that is stored in the cloud so that you can review later. Once you have received the application update, you can also trigger the recording manually while looking at live images from a camera on your phone.
As the Fan Hueblog.com site explains, you will notice a new icon in Live View, which you can press to start and stop recording. The clips recorded manually will be saved on your phone rather than on the cloud.
Organize
The software update also facilitates the organization of your Philips shade lights, which you control them using a Philips shade bridge or a Bluetooth on your phone.
Each Philips Hue bridge can control up to 50 lights, creating a network of mesh which connects them to your domestic Wi-Fi network and between them. This may be enough, but if you have a large house, you may need a second bridge to link them all.
With the version version 5.37.1, you can now organize the Home by Bridge tab and display the names of your bridges as titles. This should make it easier to see and control the lights linked to each. To try, press the Ellipsis icon (…) to open the menu, then press the Modify the House tab and select the Pont Names icon.
Finally, if you control your shade lights using Bluetooth, you can now change the icon for everyone to make them easier to identify in a glance. To do this, select the light card, then press the ellipsis icon and choose light settings. It is a small change, but which makes some of the best smart lights that you can buy even better.
