Eidul Fit 2025 should bring an extended vacation period to Pakistan, many anticipating a break from March 29 to April 6, 2025.
Ramadan, the Islamic month of fasting, prayer and reflection, ends with Eidul Fitr, an important religious festival observed on the first day of Shawwal.
The exact date of Eid is determined by the observation of the Shawwal crescent, according to Islamic tradition.
According to Rue-E-Hilal Research Council, Eidul Fitr in 2025 should be observed on March 31. Experts predict that the crescent moon will be visible in most parts of Pakistan in the evening of March 30, because it should have more than 26 hours, meeting the visibility criteria.
The Pakistani are hoping for a longer vacation this year, because the first three days of Eid should fall from Monday to Wednesday, aligning themselves with the weekend. There are speculations that the government could announce official vacation of five days from March 29 to April 2.
If additional leave is granted Thursday and Friday, the holiday period could extend to nine days, from March 29 to April 6.
However, the final calendar will depend on the official observation of the Moon.
