Dave Musker, Head of Security and Security of the International Cricket Council (ICC), praised the arrangements taken by the Pakistani authorities for the 2025 champions trophy, whose country’s leg was concluded after organizing the second match in the semi-finals between South Africa and New Zealand.
Sharing his opinions on the tournament with eight teams, Musker thanked the Pakistani police, the Rangers and the army for having carried out infallible security arrangements for the teams and the CPI staff.
The security institutions provided complete cooperation throughout the tournament, he expressed his thoughts before the second semi-final played at the Gaddafi stadium in Lahore.
He admitted that some teams had shown reserves on the trip to Pakistan before the renowned event.
“It was a brilliant tournament,” said the director of the ICC, adding that he will demonstrate a very positive image of Pakistan, its inhabitants and its security institutions in the world.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) successfully welcomed the ICC tournament, which started on February 19, with a total of 15 games in the renovated house stadiums and the United Arab Emirates (water) under a hybrid model agreed with India.
A few months before the start of the tournament, the Cricket Control Council in India (BCCI) refused to send its national male team to Pakistan, citing security problems.
BCCI’s refusal has led to a severe reaction from the Pakistani cricket card (PCB), causing a long dead end between the two cricket bodies.
Consequently, the last match of the tournament will be played on a neutral place, Dubai, between India and New Zealand on March 9, which would mark the conclusion of the ICC event, organized by Pakistan for the first time in almost three decades.
However, the men of Green, who also defended the champions of the title, failed to leave a mark because they were eliminated without even qualifying for the semi-finals after consecutive defeats in the group matches.
Pakistan, who was in group A alongside India, New Zealand and Bangladesh, ended his trip with disappointing figures when they stayed the last on the point table after two defeats and their last match against Bangladesh was swept away.
