The first VPN firm, ExpressVPN, has just published its greatest update to update its Linux application, promising to provide an experience centered on the user with usability and improved safety to their heart.
The new Linux of Expressvpn application finally introduces the very made graphical user interface (Gui), which means that users can interact with the same easy-to-use interface on other platforms. The upgrade also includes new features such as advanced death switch, a divided tunneling and more.
The new Linux VPN application is currently available for beta tests only and is compatible with Ubuntu 24.04+, Debian10, Fedora30, Raspberry Pi Os Buster, Mint 20 and Arch. If you want to continue using the command line interface application (CLI), you can always benefit from the upgrade version and its new advanced features.
More personalization and safety, with an intuitive interface
ExpressVPN is one of the best VPN suppliers on the market, known for its fully full and easy to use applications. The upgrade then occurs in response to the popularity of Linux products and the need for high quality VPN solutions.
“We have recognized that the rapidly growing Linux community needed a powerful and intuitive VPN experience and put itself to work immediately,” said Himmat Bains, head of Expressvpn office applications.
This is where the graphical interface comes into play. The improved interface, which is available in light and dark modes on 17 languages, allows users to take control of their digital life in a few clicks.
As Bains points out, however, the graphical interface is only A part of the upgrade. He said: “The new application incorporates a multitude of advanced features that allow users to adapt their digital security experience – for more control and confidentiality while benefiting from the ease of use for which ExpressvPN is known.”
For the first time, in fact, Linux users can also benefit from a divided tunneling functionality to select specific applications or IPs to be transported via the VPN or bypass it. An advanced option of Kill Switch (here called Lock Network) also allows them to prevent internet access at any time unless the VPN is connected.
Other security features provided with the Linux application of the new ExpressVPN also include post-health encryption, as well as certain advanced protective features to block intrusive advertisements, web trackers, malicious websites and adult content.
As with other platforms, the Linux app is also delivered with a choice of VPN protocol options which include OpenVPN and Expressvpn Lightway. Users can also choose between servers in 105 countries around the world.
As mentioned above, ExpressVPN will also continue to support CLI users, also extending many of the same upgrades also for its new Linux CLI version. The supplier suggests uninstalling your Expressvpn Linux Existing (V3 and Plus) application before installing the new Linux application (V4) to avoid any problem.
The new Linux of Expressvpn application is now available for download in beta version from the Expressvpn website.
Overall, Bains said: “At ExpressVPN, our users have always been the engine of our innovations. Our main Linux improvements are just an example and strengthen our mission to make a solid privacy protection accessible to everyone.”
