Two officers of the Terrorism Department (CTD) were martyred during a dismissal incident on the Kohat zone of Tanda Dam Road, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, the city of Kohat in the province.
The police, identified as Mustafa and Zahid, went to Kohat City for functions when unidentified armed men opened fire on them, said Express News.
The two officers, who were on a motorcycle, died on the scene.
The attackers managed to escape, causing a strong police presence in the region. The security forces have completed the site and launched a research operation. The bodies of the deceased police were transferred to the DHQ hospital in Kohat.
A tragic incident occurred in Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where two police officers were killed by Tanda dam.
The first reports confirm that unknown attackers opened fire on the police, leading to the death of two staff members identified as Zahid and Mustafa, Express News reported.
The attack raised concerns about security in the region.
In a statement according to the incident, the Federal Minister of the Interior, Mohin Naqvi, condemned the attack and expressed condolences to the families of the deceased officers. He praised the sacrifices of Zahid and Mustafa, referring to their death as a testimony to their dedication to duty.
Naqvi said: “Martyr officers, Ghulam Mustafa and Zahid Rehman, sacrificed their lives in service, and we salute their courage. Their contributions to the fight against terrorism will always be memories.”
The minister also expressed his sympathy to the families of the officers killed and congratulated the bravery of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police, recognizing their ongoing sacrifices in the battle against terrorism.
In addition, in another incident, three people, including a police officer, were killed and a seriously injured in a shooting incident during Taraweh prayers in Narowal.
According to the police, the shooting occurred while the faithful offered Taraweeh prayers to the residence of Inam Ullah Butt. The unknown attackers opened fire without discrimination, killing the special policeman of the Punjab branch, Zafar Iqbal, the Imran Butt carrier and Shahid Butt.
Sho City Narowal, Toheed Ur Rehman, confirmed the incident, declaring that the attack was linked to a longtime quarrel on a private bus in the region.
After the attack, a heavy police contingent led by DPO Narowal, Malik Naveed, arrived on the scene, recovered the bodies and transferred them to the hospital. The injured person, Shahbaz, receives medical treatment.
