- Mark Gurman de Bloomberg suggested that a major iOS overhaul is on the way with iOS 19
- Visionos could serve as inspiration for the next Apple mobile operating system
- A new software look could go hand in hand with rumor hardware changes
We have heard a lot about the material upgrades of the rumor for the iPhone 17 family, which is supposed to be due at a given time later this year, but a new Apple tiestter report in the industry suggests that the next Apple handsets will also inaugurate a huge software overhaul.
Mark Gurman de Bloomberg reports that iOS 19 will represent “one of the most dramatic software revisions” in history not only of iOS, but Apple as a business. The last time IOS saw a really massive change in shape and function was with iOS 7, published in 2013 – even today, many applications and interface elements found in iOS 18 are based on their iOS 7 versions.
In terms of new features, iOS 19 could provide a reworked camera application and (finally) a more powerful SIRI, but we are always fairly light on the advice on other features. Below, we have so far gathered an overview of the main rumors, as well as a few things that I would like to see in the next Apple mobile operating system.
A revised design
As mentioned, iOS 19 is strongly subject to a total visual overhaul of the Apple mobile operating system, as we have not seen for more than a decade.
Gurman’s report for Bloomberg suggests that iOS 19 will bring a visual refresh similar to iOS 7, with a major update of the “style of icons, menus, applications, windows and system pimples” through the experience of the iPhone.
In addition, the Bloomberg report suggests that the new interface could draw inspiration from visionos, which could mean everything, from circular icons complete to subtle adjustments to overlays and user interface menus.
However, a large part of Apple’s success as a brand depends on the familiarity, it is therefore likely that iOS 19 will at least look like iOS versions of previous years – we would not expect to see the parameter application Lose its pattern of equipment icon, for example.
This recast of the software can be in tandem with a reworked physical design; The family of the iPhone 17 should bring a new hardware look to the iPhone 17 Pro, the iPhone 17 Pro Max and the brand new iPhone 17 Air.
A new camera application

The first major suggestion of an iOS 19 overhaul came with rumors of a new camera application, which could use an open and refined design recalling Visionos.
As we mentioned earlier, a supposed iOS 19 escape alluded to the new camera application design earlier this year, with a handful of mocked screenshots to accompany it.
In the screenshots, the shutter button seems to float freely on the lower part of the screen, with key parameters available below rather than talking to the top of the screen.
The buttons are all circular or rounded, and there do not seem to be a lot. Overall, the new design seems quite elegant. However, but of course, this is only a leak, and may not reflect the final look of the application of the camera.
An improved SIRI

IOS 19 is also to make improvements to the Apple digital assistant SIRI.
We were waiting for Siri before that they obtained updates flavored by Apple’s intelligences via mid -year updates to iOS 18, but it now seems more likely that Siri will get an appropriate upgrade of AI during the life cycle of iOS 19.
9TO5MAC notes that Apple could bring together the two distinct systems that currently feed Siri into one, offering an more conversational and efficient experience. Siri currently uses Chatgpt, but it is suggested that Apple would prefer not to rely on a third party.
However, Gurman predicts that iOS 19 will not bring any important Apple intelligence characteristics oriented towards consumers, we could therefore wait for the subsequent versions of iOS 19 to obtain a owner SIRI.
iOS 19: What I want to see

Personally, I am a fan of the soft and reliable interface that Apple has built over the years. After having smoothed the net visuals of iOS 7 and added expanded and modernized features with each iteration, iOS 18 looks and feels excellent in most situations.
Nevertheless, there are things that I would like to see in the next version of iOS.
If a new more aerial user interface is on the way, it could be a chance for Apple to allow more fluidity in navigation in this user interface. I am a big fan of slip navigation found on most of the best Android phones, and I always find the lack of a universal “back” with a real loss when I come back to the iPhone.
I would also like to see Apple go even further with personalization. IOS 18 finally gave us the possibility of moving icons around the home screen and recoloring them to adapt to a wallpaper or a given theme (here is how to customize the home screen of your iPhone in iOS 18 if you have not already done so), but again, Android has taken before for years in this department.
The living wallpapers offered by Xiaomi or OnePlus could serve as precious inspiration, and more control over the size of the widget in an aesthetic inspired by visionos would have a lot of meaning.
With that said, I support all potential upheavals. From the hardware and software point of view, the design of the phone can become quite homogeneous, it is therefore pleasant to hear that Apple could be willing to take risks. In any case, let us know what you want to see from iOS 19 in the comments below.
