The security forces thwarted a suicide attempt at a checkpoint near Jandola fort in the Jandola Superior region in southern Waziristan. After the failure of the attack, the forces responded with heavy shots, killing several activists, news reported on Thursday.
According to security sources, the attackers opened fire after the explosion, the sources confirming that the attack was a bombardment of suicide. Security officials said several activists were neutralized outside the Jandola checkpoint strong in southern Waziristan.
The suicide bomber exploded his explosives to the southern door, causing two security injuries. The process of identifying terrorists is currently underway, has revealed security sources.
They indicated that six attackers had been killed and that the operation by the security forces is still underway. Fighter helicopters patrolled in the area, with intermittent shots heard because the situation remains tense, they added.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Mohin Naqvi praised the security forces for managing to thwart the attack on the checkpoint in Tank.
He congratulated the brave security forces for killing 10 foreign activists and recognized his professional capacities in the prevention of the attack, adding that the nation is proud of the expertise of its security forces.
