President of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohin Naqvi, made the order to examine the decision to reduce the playing fees of the players and the reserves selected to play at the National T20 Cup.
It is understood that the costs should go back to the sum of 40,000 PKRs in the previous edition, and 20,000 PKR per game for reserves. Originally, the costs had been reduced by 75%, to 10,000 PKR (35 USD approximately) and PKR 5000 for reserves. Even the figure of 40,000 PKR is a fall compared to 2022, when the players had been paid 60,000 PKR per game.
The decision to reduce the players’ match fees, as decided by the National Department of the PCB, led to a shade and to shout in the cricket circles, leaving the fans and the criticisms wondering if the board of directors faced a financial crunch. The PCB sources claim, however, that the discounts of spending has been executed due to an increase in national tournaments this season, which leads to larger winning opportunities for players.
The National T20 Cup begins on March 14, with 39 games in three cities: Faisalabad, Lahore and Multan. The final will take place in Faisalabad on March 27. Several Pakistani international crickets will not be able to present, the national team having left for New Zealand for five T20is and three ODI.
