- Gems are now available in the free version of Gemini
- Each jewel can have its own personality and expertise, allowing you to create personalized AI tools
- You can create your own jewels or use those pre-made of Google
Google deploys its customizable AI models for free, to all Gemini users. Gems have been around for some time now as part of Gemini Advanced, but now everyone can play with them.
Gems are personalized AI models. They can be fictitious IA characters you have always wanted to speak, like my hero Bilbo Baggins, or Jack Reacher, or you can play an AI character from which you want to get advice, like a fitness coach or a language tutor.
They are actually quite easy to create and can be an excellent saver. If you frequently ask Gemini to do tasks like improving your writing or role -playing like your boss to practice difficult conversations, you are probably spending time preparing it behaving in a certain way before the start of the conversation.
For example, you could write: “I want you to claim to be an intermediate framework of the mid -1950s in a software company that hates small discussions and likes it Philadelphia Eagles“, Before each interaction.
With a gem, you can save time by creating your IA expert and saving them for the next time, so that you can jump directly into the conversation.
Prefabricated gems
Gemini are delivered with a few prefabricated gems that are really worth explored, including “Chess field” (playing using standard movements like “Pawn to D4”). Brainstorming, a gem that is there to help you offer ideas. “Career guide” who wants to help you in terms of work. “Coding partner” to level your coding skills. “Learning Coach” that is created to help you learn about anything, and “writing editor” that wants to improve your grammar and your sentence structure.
Just choose a gem and start chatting. You will get back to how it works as you go.
If you want to create your own jewel, you will need to access GEMINI via the web interface in Gemini.google.com, rather than the mobile application. Once you are there, click on “Gem Manager” in the left menu, then “New Gem”.
Give your jewel a name – I went for Bilbo Baggins in order to create one of my childhood heroes, so that I can question him about his adventures in the misty mountains. Then you have to give some instructions to your jewel. Here, I entered the life of Bilbo and his personality in detail. In the knowledge section, you can download all the files or PDF that you have that offers more general information.
Once you are done, click Save and you are ready to start chatting with your new jewel. I had a nice conversation by the fireside with Bilbo, but he seemed reluctant to let me hold his magic ring …
