The Passport headquarters in Islamabad has received a share of modern printers equipped with the latest technologies.
These printers, imported from Germany, include two electronic printers and six office printers, Express News reported.
The director general of passports Mustafa Jamal Qazi visited the E-printer section and was informed by foreign experts on the installation process.
A foreign technical team has arrived in Pakistan to help install the printers, which should be completed soon.
According to Qazi, the new printers are able to print 1,000 passports per hour, which considerably increases production and improving printing quality. He also added that additional electronic printers will arrive in the coming month, further accelerating the passport printing process.
Modern technology should improve the efficiency and overall quality of passport printing in Pakistan.
A few days ago, Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain noticed the alleged blocking of Pakistani passports abroad and officially wrote to the Ministry of the Interior to request an investigation.
The question was raised by Pakistan Business Forum France, whose leaders urged the government to take action. Hussain described the question of “very sensitive” and stressed that expatriates should not face excessive difficulties.
The Minister said that the abuse of Pakistani abroad would not be tolerated and announced that the facilitation offices would be installed at airports to help them.
A letter from the managers of the forum, including Ibrahim Dar, Zahoor Iqbal and Aslam Chaudhry, allegedly allegedly blocked their passports, the airport staff would have asked for bribes of up to 500,000 rupees.
The authorities promised rapid action to investigate and solve the problem.
