A video circulating on social networks claims to show the former chief judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Qazi Faez Isa, declaring in an interview that his role in judgments against the former Prime Minister Imran Khan was “limited” and that the establishment influenced judicial affairs.
The complaint is false because the clip was tampered with.
Claim
On March 8, an account on YouTube, with more than 485,000 subscribers, published a video allegedly featuring the former chief judge.
The video, subtitled, “Qazi Faez Isa Choshing interview in London”, includes a 54-second clip in which Isa would have asked if he has a “personal enmity” with Khan. The interviewer also implies that he seemed that Isa was “no mood to do justice” in cases related to the Pakistani of Khan Tehreek-E-insaf (PTI).
In the clip, Isa would be allegedly understood to answer: “Look, the Pakistan system is a bit complicated. If you think that as a chief judge, I had all the powers, then you are wrong. My role in all cases you are talking about was limited. Certain forces that are not visible on the media also have an impact in these cases, which I cannot name here. »»
The video collected more than 50,000 views at the time of the editorial staff.
A screenshot of the video was also divided on X (formerly Twitter), with legend: “In Pakistan, justice is only done if the army wants. Some generals had ordered Khan under pressure, said former chief judge in the interview. »»

This statement is false. No declaration of this type was made by former chief judge Qazi Faez Isa in the interview from which these clips and screenshots were shared online.
The real interview took place on October 9, 2022, during a session at the Oxford Union, a debate company at the University of Oxford. It is important to note that this interview was recorded before ISA became a chief judge of Pakistan. He was raised to the post in September 2023, while the interview was filmed in 2022.
De facto check examined the full hour interview published on the Oxford Union official YouTube channel. The interview does not include any question or discussion linked to Imran Khan, and Qazi Faez Isa does no complaint concerning his limited role or the creation influencing judicial affairs.
