Premium compact cameras are trendy and increasingly difficult to secure, so Leica’s D-Lux 8 stock, supposed to be delivered in a week, is a welcome surprise.
Meanwhile, there are still long deadlines for orders from Fujifilm X100VI a year since his release, and finding a Canon Powershot G7x Mark III is not a high order after exploding on Tiktok (just like its price).
And so I’m here, as surprised as anyone to say that Leica D-Lux 8 is available for purchase now And That its price of $ 1,595 / £ 1,450 £ $ 2,790 is somewhat reasonable against its competitors, and it is actually a little less than Fujifilm X100Vi in the United States and the United Kingdom. Choose my jaw on the ground.
Leica’s cheapest camera (apart from the instantaneous Sfort 2 camera) contains a micro oven thirds sensor from 17 MP, 24 to 75 mm f / 1.7-2.8 and premium design keys inspired by Leica Q3. It is a well tidy and versatile compact.
However, it is only a minor update of the D-Lux 7 that precedes this decade, with a technology somewhat dated compared to the last premium compacts like the X100Vi, so should you buy one?
Press the trigger?
Our Leica D-Lux 8 review awarded the stars MFT Compact 3.5, so it is clearly not the best of its kind. It is dated that the equipment was an important factor in this score, while a tactile tactile screen or variety would have been appreciated rather than the fixed.
That said, there has not been a lot of movement in this space, which means that compact cameras with equipment of several years are still well standing today.
Is D-LUX 8 therefore competitor with other popular models? I think that surpasses the Powershot G7x Mark III in almost all directions, but in the same way is the rest of Fujifilm X100Vi.
The D-LUX 8 and X100VI are different premium compacts for sure-the leica has a zoom lens and is much smaller, while the Fujifilm model contains a larger objective and a larger APS-C sensor for sharper images, with a nice hybrid viewfinder and an inclination screen.
If I had to choose one of the Leica and Fujifilm cameras, it would be the X100Vi. However, for many people, the choice is not even there due to limited availability.
For the moment, the compact popularity of the camera shows no sign of discharge. I included retailers’ links to the favorite Techradar models below. If you are not sure, keep in mind that Leica cameras tend to maintain their value well, so it could be worth the trigger to secure a D-Lux 8 while it is available.
