Grande Papion: Change in the air for Pakistan
During the longest, they were inseparable at the top of the order of Pakistan in T20is. Then, with questions on strike rates and the maximization of the value of the power value, the management of the team tried to put a certain distance from them in the order of the strikers. They found their way, together. But now, with a little less than a year for the next T20 World Cup, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan are completely out.
This means a change of approach to Pakistan, perhaps triggered by the inability to have an impact on their own champions trophy, although this is an ODI competition.
Pakistan has opted for three dasters at the top. With Saim Ayub always unavailable, Pakistan has a top three of Mohammad Haris, Omair Yousuf and the Hasan Nawaz not wearing – all three have the reputation of being aggressive strikers.
Salman Agha, the new captain of Pakistan T20i, underlined the need to improve their intention and their approach and the need to play “fearless” and “high -risk cricket”, saying that the team has posted this cricket brand in domestic games.
The range of New-Look Pakistan will start to face a difficult test against a strong outfit of New Zealand, even if they are missing key players who have gone in IPL service. There is a formidable Bowling attack, with Will O’Rourke, Ben Sears, Kyle Jamieson, Ish Sodhi and Jacob Duffy all ready to test the inexperience of Pakistan.
Key strikers are also missing in the team led by Michael Bracewell, one of the best performers in New Zealand during their race for the Champions Trophy. But Finn Allen is back, just like Tim Seifert and Jimmy Neesham. Daryl Mitchell went nowhere. And Mitchell Hay, Mark Chapman and Tim Robinson are hardly pushes. At home, they will consider themselves favorites, with or without Rachin Ravira or a Devon Conway or a Glenn Phillips. If anything, the changes will give them a better idea of the composition of the World Cup team next year.

Team News: The return of Jimmy Neesham and Finn Allen?
Neesham, Seifert and Allen are back in the New Zealand team, and Neesham and Allen should start. Sears and O’Rourke should lead the rapid attack, as well as Jacob Duffy, who was the biggest counter carrier in the last T20I series in New Zealand, against Sri Lanka.
New Zealand (Probable): 1 Finn Allen, 2 Tim Robinson, 3 Mark Chapman, 4 Daryl Mitchell, 5 James Neesham, 6 Mitchell Hay (WK), 7 Michael Bracewell (Capt), 8 Ben Sears, 9 Ish Sodhi, 10 Will O’Rourke, 11 Jacob Duffy
Besides Nawaz, Pakistan could also start in Abdul Samad, who was chosen despite no PSL experience. Shadab Khan is back on the side and should lead Spin’s attack alongside Abrar Ahmed.
Pakistan (Probable): 1 Mohammad Haris (WK), 2 Omair Yousuf, 3 Hasan Nawaz, 4 Salman Agha (Capt), 5 Abdul Samad, 6 Irfan Khan, 7 Shadab Khan, 8 Shaheen Afridi, 9 Haris Rauf, 10 Abrar Ahmed, 11 Abbas Afridi
Purpose and conditions
The match will be played in Hagley Oval, and is part of a double-header with New Zealand which will face Sri Lanka in a female T20i there earlier during the day. On average, the teams mark about eight run on the ground, and last year, the two T20i between these two teams were low-score business, New Zealand first hunted 159 then Bowling Pakistan for 92 for the defense of 138.
Quotes
“We have probably had a little more concentration on ourselves. With a few new young players entering the Pakistani side, there is a little unknown. But I think that as long as we know what we are trying to do, it will be good enough for anyone who comes up against us.”
New Zealand stand-in captain Michael Bracewell
“It’s a young team, and we want to play fearless cricket. It is high -risk cricket, which is a requirement in modern cricket. There will be failures with this approach, but we must support our players.”
The new captain of Pakistan Salman Agha
