The main Minister of Transport, Sharjeel Inam Memon, visited the current construction work of the BRT project of the yellow line and inspected his progress.
During the visit, the Secretary of the Transport Department, Asad Zaman, project manager Yellow Line Zameer Abbasi, engineers, representatives of construction companies and consultants was also present.
Consultants informed the main minister of the project, highlighting progress, obstacles and the planned completion calendar.
Sharjeel Inam Memon asked that there should be no delay in the completion of the BRT yellow line, and it should be completed before the deadline. He also pointed out that the project, which was initially to finish by September 2025, will now be completed by May 2025, five months in advance.
Addressing the media, Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the Sindh government was working tirelessly to provide maximum convenience to people, and the BRT of the yellow line is an advanced project under construction for the citizens of Karachi. He recognized that the challenges linked to public services are common during construction, but assured that the government has committed to overcome these obstacles.
With regard to the Red Line BRT project, he mentioned the challenges due to civil aviation, Water Board and the K4 project, but assured that these problems would soon be solved. He congratulated the officials of the Transport Department for their excellent performance and their efforts to complete projects in time.
On the BRT Green Line, he confirmed that the prices would not be increased and that additional facilities would be provided to improve the public travel experience.
Sharjeel Inam Memon also called on the Prime Minister to honor his commitment to provide 180 buses in Karachi, because it is the right of citizens of the city. He urged the Prime Minister to keep this promise to ensure better travel facilities for Karachi residents.
As part of special initiatives for women, he announced that pink scooters would be provided for women who work free of charge. In addition, a pink taxi service would soon be introduced to offer safe and comfortable travel options for women. In addition, the Sindh government has launched the application and the “I work for Sindh” portal, which will offer job possibilities to unemployed youth.
Sharjeel Inam Memon concluded that all these projects are intended for the inhabitants of Karachi, and they will be completed in time to ensure modern travel facilities for the city.
