- Asus makes a perfume mouse with an essential oil compartment
- No price has been announced, but it is scheduled for April or May
- Last year, the Asus announced a laptop with a perfume dispenser
If you have always wanted to improve the aroma of your workspace, Asus could have the answer: it works on a wireless computer mouse with a rechargeable perfume compartment.
The idea is that you will fill the scented device with aromatherapy oil of your choice. When you use the mouse, it has passively oriented your office.
Not a joke of fools in early April – in fact, it is really an idea of genius – the MD101 is very real and very developed. Asus did not confirm the prices or a release date, but a spokesperson for the company was cited by The Verge saying that the mouse will strike us the shelves “at the end of April, in early May”.
It follows the announcement of ASUS Adol Book 14, a laptop with an integrated perfume dispenser. It remains to be seen that the other ranges of Asus products should receive a fragrant upgrade, the company also recently announced three new air purifying monitors – it is therefore really with the idea of merging household items with computer technology. And we think it’s on something.
The smell of a good idea
When choosing one of the best computer mice, most users opt for physical ergonomics compared to the smell of a given model. However, there could be an argument for scented accessories.
Although oils can naturally give your workspace a more pleasant aroma, they could also have soothing advantages for different health conditions. Many people find soothing aromatherapy oils for headaches and stress, for example.
There is therefore an argument that the olfactory characteristics of accessories have a role to play in making the workspaces more ergonomic. This certainly seems to be what the Asus suggests with the MD101. How many people will buy in this reflection is another matter.
It should be noted that 100% pure essential oils cannot be used with the scented mouse. In the small impression (odor?) Of the product list, Asus asks users to fill only the bottle of “essential oils for reed diffusers, ultrasonic diffusers and aroma stones”. Although this means that you cannot mix your own mixture of pure essential oils, it always gives you a lot of perfumes.

Unlike fueled diffusers, it seems that the MD101 will not actively distribute the oil you choose to fill it. Instead, it seems to be a passive diffuser. Although this approach is beneficial for the life of the battery, only real world tests will determine the effectiveness of the mouse actually in the smell of an area.
In addition to the rechargeable bottle, the MD101 perfume mouse is also a fairly standard wireless mouse. Available in finishes in white clay or iridescent pink, it can connect to Windows, MacOS and Chromebook devices via Bluetooth or Wireless 2.4 GHz. DPI is adjustable up to 2400, while the PTFE feet promise to easily slide on different surfaces.
A single AA battery should deliver up to a year of use, although this can vary depending on the quantity you use of “delicate sub-lighting lighting” of the MD101. With the perfume compartment, Asus believes that he will add “a suspicion of elegance” to your work surface.
