Pakistan advocates gender equality

The United Nations:

Pakistan has called for a “unshakable and unreserved” global commitment to ensure gender equality, the empowerment of women and the implementation of anti-paleuvenous sustainable development objectives (SDGs).

“At this central moment, we must renew our commitment to guarantee that each woman and each girl can live with dignity and equality,” the United Nations Commission on the Statute of Women told.

Khowaja, the Federal Human Rights Secretary, spoke during a general debate on the implementation of the 1995 Beijing Declaration and Action Platform, which advocates greater equality and opportunities for women and men, as well as for girls and boys.

He described the Beijing platform for action as one of the most complete and transformative “executives for the promotion of women’s rights, but has recognized that its complete implementation remains a challenge due to social and structural problems that continue to hinder progress.

Khowaja said Pakistan was determined to empower women in all areas of life.

“In our quest for gender equality and the empowerment of women, Pakistan is guided by our constitutional obligation, our international commitments and especially the vision of our founding father, Quaid-Ezam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who rightly said:” No country can take up the height of glory unless your women are side by side, “said Dellegate Pakistani.

Pakistan, he said, promulgated progressive laws and policies to guarantee the safeguard of women’s rights, offer equal chances and ensure their full participation in national life.

In this regard, Khowaja said that Pakistan has prioritized political empowerment and participation, with seats reserved for the women’s parliament, provincial assemblies guaranteeing their representations at all levels of decision -making.

“(We) proudly share that Pakistan, being the Islamic country, had Shaheed Mohtarama Benazir Bhutto as a first democratically elected woman Prime Minister, with the chief minister of the largest province (Punjab), chief judge of the high court of Punjab, secretary of foreign affairs and judges of the Supreme Court.”

Khowaja also said that women continue to hold management positions in civilian bureaucracy and major business advice. He also drawn attention to the Prime Minister’s recently launched women’s empowerment package, ensuring 33% representation of women in all administrative and statutory organizations, financial institutions, while guaranteeing a legal framework to ensure the protection of property rights.
