Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said on Monday that he was ready to withdraw from his post if his resignation would help solve the country’s security problems.
He made this comment in response to opposition requests for his resignation after the deadly terrorist attack against Jaffar Express.
Addressing journalists in Parliament, Khawaja Asif acknowledged that he was held responsible for the failure of security, but insisted that he was willing to resign if he approached the question.
The opposition blamed the attack on a security period and demanded the resignations of ministers for defense, interior and information. The head of the PTI, Asad Qaiser, criticized Asifies, accusing him of diverting his political rivals instead of accepting responsibility.
During a session of the National Assembly, Asif criticized PTI, declaring that even if the attack was condemned worldwide, including by the United Nations and the United States, the party founder did not publish a declaration on the incident.
