- Sennheiser announced a new set of premium headphones called HD 550
- It is rightly intended for audiophiles and players
- You can pre -order it now for $ 299.95 / £ 249.99
Sennheiser has announced a brand new helmet model specifically intended for games and audiophiles.
The open headphones Sennheiser HD 550 are presented as bringing “a new convincing choice to audiophiles and players looking for higher level capacities”. Sennheiser also speaks a big game for the HD 550 saying that the headphones will boast “of sprawling stereo imaging and an ultra-light construction, the HD 550 is an open invitation to unpack the lush diapers of music and today’s games for hours.”
In terms of what is under the hood, the HD 550 headphones will include a 38 mm personalized transducer, which will offer an “exceptional clarity” of 6 Hz to 39.5 kHz.
And for the game specifically, Sennheiser says that the players will obtain “a superb space conscience and immersion” of the HD 550. Low punchy, crystalline transient and neutral means without moving away from the true accuracy that the audiophiles will prefer.
Describing the HD 550S, the Audiophile Product Manager of Sennheiser, Klas Hanselmann, said in the official press release: “The audiophiles looking for Featherlight headphones with an honest extension and a deep bass extension are for a treat.”
Elsewhere, practically speaking, the HD 550 will share the characteristic of the 500 series to have a modular design, allowing users to easily exchange cables and headphones. It is a set of wired headphones, and comes with a 6 -foot / 1.8 m cable, with a 3.5 mm socket connection, but also offers additional compatibility by coming with a 6.35 mm adapter.
It also weighs only 8.36 OZ / 237 g so lighter than a DualSense wireless controller, for example, and much lighter than my choice of high -end game helmet, the Steelseries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless.
The HD 550 is hot on the heels of the new Sennheiser HD 505 earphone also that we have really evaluated in our full review.
This can be obvious, but it should be noted that these are Sennheiser headphones across from start to finish – not a springboard in the full -fledged games of the premium audio brand. There is no microphone here, for example, and they are intended for people who simply seek high level audio for their games – as well as flexibility to choose their own microphone.
Nevertheless, I am enthusiastic by the HD 550 set of headphones. I was a big fan of some of the latest models of game helmet that the brand made in the 670 GSP, 370 and 300.
Although HD 550 are a very distant relationship with these helmets, I can’t wait to try something from the brand which is definitely oriented towards the game. In addition, with HD 550 wiring, it could be a PS5 audiophile dream helmet, Xbox Series Xbox Series or Nintendo Switch helmet.
Sennheiser HD 550 headphones are available in pre-order at the Sennheiser audience now for $ 299.95 or £ 249.99.
