- HP has started a number of new AI laptops at Amplify 2025
- The company followed the example of Dell with the brand change in AI on its range of laptops

HP launched a range of new AI laptops at its 2025 AMPLIFY event with a multitude of new brand names.
The 800 series of the company is now EliteBook 8, and the 600 series is now EliteBook 6 (the two systems are available in size 13, 14 and 16 inch).
The 400 series is now ProBook 4 (in sizes 14 and 16 inch). Zbook Firefly is now the Zbook 8 G1i (Intel) and G1A (AMD), Zbook Power is now the Zbook x G1i, Elite Mini / SFF / Tower is now EliteDesk and Elite Aio is now Elitetetudio. Clear?
Easy to understand
At the beginning of the year, Dell decided that the arrival of the AI era meant that it was time for a new start, and in debut on a new professional range of laptops, he made a farewell to the beloved latitude brand, which was introduced for the first time in 1994.
The swing at the ax did not end there. The company also made its debut on a new Pro Max Mobile Workstation family, which replaced the 32 -year -old precision brand. Intel, which finally has a new CEO, also played the name recently to try to make things clearer for customers.
Although the change of HP brand is not as major as that of Dell (it should also be noted that more people know the latitude and precision brands of Dell than all the HP brands), it is always another big change for consumers to make their heads. At least it’s quite simple.
If you want an EliteBook 8 G1 laptop, you can differentiate the models by size (13, 14, 16), processor (G1i for Intel or G1A for AMD) and next generation and regular AI models (which offer different peaks). Once you know what, you can quickly identify the difference between the HP Elitebook 8 G1A 13 ”PC NEXT Gen and the HP Elitebook 8 G1i 16” AI.
Is rebranding completely necessary? It is a question of debate.
“We adopt a very conventional and pragmatic approach,” said Tom Butler, executive director of the commercial portfolio and product management in Lenovo Notebook.
“There is a series name for our ThinkPad products, such as the T series, the L series or the E series, with screen sizes in the product name for clarity – T14, T16 and so on. In order to keep it logical and help people keep the track, we also put a generational name after. Consumers.”
