After stirring the greatest controversy in controversy at the Olympic Games in Paris last summer, the Algerian boxer Imaif plans to start everything in 2028.
The gold medalist told ITV in an exclusive interview that the athlete planned to participate in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, which will be the first summer games based in the United States since 1996. The 2028 Games will also come in the last year of the mandate of President Donald Trump, which has so far been partially defined by strict eligibility policy between the sexes Donald Trump.
Khelif brewed international indignation in Paris during a race for a gold medal in women’s boxing despite his disqualification of the World Boxing International Boxing Championships in 2023 for problems of modification of sexes. IBA president Umar Kremlev, published a statement to the Russian TASS agency on the reason why Khelif was disqualified.

“Based on DNA tests, we have identified a number of athletes who tried to encourage their colleagues to pretend to be women. According to test results, it was proven that they had XY chromosomes. Such athletes were excluded from the competition,” said Kremev.
Khelif did not prove to be transgender.
The Algerian Olympic Committee said at the time that Khelif had been disqualified for “medical reasons”. The Algerian media reported that Khelif had been disqualified for high levels of testosterone, according to Reuters. Khelif said that disqualification was part of a “conspiracy” to prevent Algeria from gaining gold.
However, Khelif was authorized to compete in Paris and had the full support of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and President Thomas Bach. Consequently, the boxer caused heavy lavas to those who thought that Khelif should not be able to participate in the women’s category according to their gender eligibility problems.
These criticisms understood Trump, billionaire Elon Musk and author JK Rowling. Khelif brought legal action in France, citing “aggravated cyber-harassment acts” on the public’s response to his participation.
“When I saw that even the heads of state, the famous people and the ancient athletes spoke of me without having checked facts, that shocked me,” Khelif told ITV.

“They were just talking about to speak without any reliable or documented information. I also noticed on social networks that people discussed the question without any source of confidence. This is what affected me the most. Why was I, Imane Khelif, the target of such a campaign? ”
Khelif also told ITV that the backlash had had an impact on the health of the athlete’s mother.
“It affected me mentally, as well as my family. Even my mother was deeply affected. She went to hospital almost every day. My loved ones were also affected, and all the Algerian people felt the weight of the situation.
“I was deeply touched mentally and I felt discouraged, but I was aware of what was going on. Even during the Paris Olympic Games, I had a team of specialized doctors who provided me with support and help. Without their support, I could have fallen into a spiral of depression.”
But that does not prevent Khelif from getting rid of competition in 2028, even with more strict eligibility policies on sex in place.
Trump has already signed a decree prohibiting trans -sports athletes for women and girls on a national level, and said that the Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Security, Kristi Noem, will receive Trans athletes outside the country for the 2028 Olympic Games.

However, Khelif claims that these policies do not apply to the athlete.
“I will give you a simple answer: the American president has made a decision related to transgender policies in America. I am not transgender. It does not concern me, and that does not intimidate me. This is my answer,” Khelif told ITV.
“For me, I consider myself a girl, like any other girl. I was born a girl, raised as a girl and I lived all my life as one.”
Bach is expected to leave his duties this year, the next CIO president can also cause a different stand to the committee’s sexual eligibility policy. A potential successor is the old Olympic gold medalist Sebastian Coe.
Coe has published his manifesto for his vision as president of the IOC, and this underlines the importance of Protect female athletes.
He previously declared in an interview in November with the BBC, the situation involving Khelif had “uncomfortable”.
